About the project
The village of Carrasqueira, located near Comporta, is known for its traditional thatched cottages and iconic stilt pier, both built by local fishermen. This unique setting offers breathtaking views of the Sado estuary, especially at sunset, attracting both photographers and tourists seeking tranquility and authenticity. The Nature’s Rhythm project aims to replace the existing house, which no longer meets the client's functional and structural needs, with a new, contemporary Alentejo-style home. Ideal for family or group holidays, this house blends modern comfort with the serene natural landscape, creating a true retreat for peace and togetherness.

Challenge
The main challenge of this project was to replace the current property, which had several structural and functional limitations, with a new construction that meets the client's contemporary demands. The existing property, a traditional construction, no longer met today’s expectations for comfort and efficiency. The new design must also harmoniously integrate into the Alentejo landscape, preserving the authenticity of the location while offering a modern space adapted to contemporary living needs.
Aproach
The Rhythm project takes an innovative approach, inspired by the natural elements of the region, such as the movement of dunes and tides. The design features large openings and glass doors that promote continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing natural light to flood the areas and offering panoramic views of the surrounding environment. Strategically placed balconies and terraces create peaceful spots, perfect for appreciating the serenity of the Alentejo landscape. The project aims to offer a home that combines modern functionality with a strong connection to nature, ensuring comfort and tranquility for its residents.
